This is an important time of year to celebrate our recent soccer season by acknowledging those individuals and teams deserving recognition for an outstanding 2009-2010 season. 
 
Please take the time to consider the award descriptions listed in file at bottom of page, the contributions made by your players, and your coaching staff, and submit your nominations (along with a written justification) to Lisa Chen Kerslake at  lckerslake AT shaw.ca .

DSA is looking for a 'Director - Social Events'.  This is an awesome job that will connect you with the entire club, and will be a lot of fun, while providing a tremendous service to the club.  Read more for what is involved - this job has lots of great volunteers already in place to help.

Jericho synthetic turf field open house March 24

March 15, 2010 (No. 12) - The Vancouver Park Board will be holding an open house for the Jericho Park synthetic turf playfield on Wednesday, March 24 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at West Point Grey Community Centre (4397 West 2nd Avenue).

This will be an opportunity for the public to view detailed plans and ask questions.

On February 8, 2010 the Park Board approved the installation of a synthetic turf playfield in Jericho Park on the west field along Discovery Street. Construction will begin in the spring of 2010.

Evaluation Dates for the 2010-2011 season U11 to U14

The following table of evaluations dates and times was updated March 13, 2010 - new dates for U14 Phase A, boys and girls.

Tryouts for Vancouver FC Metro (Girls) and Select (Boys) teams have now been posted.  See Vancouver FC for more information.

DSA IS HOSTING AN ENTRY LEVEL CLINIC MAY 7-9th, 2010

The Entry Level Referee Clinic is the entry point into the Provincial Referee Program.  Once an individual is successful in passing this clinic they will be classified as a Youth Referee, if they are 14 or 15 years old or a District Referee, if they are 16 years old or older.

Scholarships are available to players graduating this year from high school.  The Vancouver Youth Soccer Association sponsors annual scholarships to both female and male players graduating from secondary schools and moving onto post-secondary education.

This is a crucial time for amateur sport in BC.

According to the Ministry of Healthy Living and Sport’s Service Plan, funding for sport is scheduled to drop dramatically in 2010 and 2011.  This will impact all British Columbians who love sport.

WSPD U8 and up Goalkeeper 3-Day Spring Break Camp

The WSPD Goalkeeping Program for U8 and up will be led and instructed by Dennis Kindel, a professional goalie coach who runs goalie training for the BCSA Provincial All Star teams, North Shore Soccer Development Centre, and is UBC Men’s Varsity Goalkeeper Coach. The goalie camp will provide age appropriate training working on the physical, technical, and tactical side of goalkeeping.

Dates:
Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday March 8th, 9th, & 10th.
It will be held at Chaldecott Park.
 
Time 9:30am to 11:30am.
Cost is $75.00
