U14 Girls Dunbar Storm Win Coastal B Cup 2010

The U14 Girls Dunbar Storm won the Coastal B Cup this past weekend with a 1-0 victory over the North Shore Adrenaline. It was an exciting and tense game.  Despite having one goal called back and hitting the inside on the post, the Storm kept their composure. The game then went into overtime and in the first ten minute overtime half the Adrenaline were awarded a free kick just outside the 18 yard box but the Storm’s defence held strong. With less than five minutes left in the second overtime half Dunbar was awarded a free kick and Isabelle Korchinski shot the ball into the top right corner of the net. The last few minutes of the game were intense but the after 90 minutes of soccer the Storm became the Coastal Champions and are now on to the Provincial Cup in July.

U13 Boys Dunbar Spartans finish second in the Coastal A Cup

After a very strong season and a powerful playoff run, the U13 Boys Dunbar Spartans finished second in the Coastal A Cup last weekend.  The boys lost 2-1 in a shootout following a 2-2 tie in regulation time and a scoreless 20 minutes of overtime.  Dunbar was down 2-0 to their season-long rivals, the Richmond Young Gunners, well into the second half.  The extra fitness training that the team had undergone after ever regular season game really showed in the last 15 minutes of the final as Richmond began to lag and the Spartans evened the score.  The boys dominated the play through overtime but were unfortunately unable to put one in the net despite a number of close chances. Congratulations to all the boys and coaches!

U10 DUNBAR UNITED GO UNDEFEATED IN BURNABY TOURNAMENT AND BRING HOME THE TROPHY!

One weekend this March, a group of boys from a few different U10 Dunbar teams got together and called themselves Dunbar United. A good choice of name as they were undefeated in the Burnaby tournament and in fact only let in one goal. The weekend before, they warmed up at a Richmond tournament and won all their games there as well. GOOOOO United!

The Game Of The Year, The 3rd Annual DSA Clash of the Coaches - Results!

ClashoftheCoaches

Thanks to all who were able to come out and be a part of the third annual DSA Clash of the Coaches. Your enthusiasm on the night is reflective of the energy and dedication you bring to your coaching, which makes DSA a great club to be a part of. In the end the Mark Armstrong led coaches of the boys teams defeated Steve Engh's girls teams coaches in the total points round robin series 17 to 8. The boys team coaches now hold a 2-1 series lead going into next season's event. Most importantly though, everyone enjoyed themselves and played in the spirit of fairplay. Special thanks should go out to the boys teams coaches for taking all measures possible to not run up the scores.
